Amarillo, Texas
Amarillo SEO for businesses that serve the Panhandle, from $65 a month
In Amarillo, more people search for a web designer than for SEO help, and a typical local business sells to a spread of Panhandle towns rather than a ring of suburbs. Here is what Google shows in Amarillo and what it takes to be found across that territory.

What Google showed for "amarillo seo"
We checked the live US results for "amarillo seo" on October 17, 2026. Google returned nine organic results: three agency sites, four directories and lists, and two social pages. The directories were the usual kind, The Manifest and DesignRush among them, plus a MapQuest business listing and a ranked roundup of agencies. One of the social results was a Facebook post. No map pack appeared, and an AI Overview sat above everything.
The People Also Ask box is the odd part. Not one question in it was about marketing. Google asked what region Amarillo is in, how close it is to Fort Worth, which FM stations broadcast there and how to pronounce the city's name. Google is not convinced that a person typing "amarillo seo" wants to hire anyone, so it pads the page with questions a visitor or a newcomer might have.
The search volumes add a twist of their own. In October 2026, "amarillo seo" and "seo amarillo" each showed about 30 searches a month, and the longer versions ("amarillo seo company", "amarillo seo services", "seo amarillo tx" and two others) about 10 each. The web design side is bigger: "amarillo web design", "web design amarillo" and "web design amarillo tx" each showed about 110. Those three are close variants that share one figure, so read them as roughly 110 people, not 330. The whole Amarillo cluster we track sums to 440 a month, and most of it is about websites.
What an Amarillo owner should take from that
Going by those numbers, Amarillo owners think "website" before they think "SEO". Many of the people behind those 110 searches are starting from a site that is old, slow on a phone or missing. Ranking work on a weak site pays back slowly, so the order matters: one page for each service you sell, the towns you cover, real photos of your work, your hours, and a contact form that works on a phone. Then the links and the Business Profile work have something worth pointing at. If your site needs that groundwork, our website design projects start at $400, one time, quoted per project.
The other lesson is that the field is thin. When directories hold four of nine spots for a city of about 200,000, Google is short on pages written squarely for the search. You can test whether your own trade looks the same in two minutes: search your main service with "amarillo" on the end, then count how many of the first ten results are directories, national chains or pages from out of town. Each of those is a spot a solid local page can compete for.
Amarillo's economy and how it searches
Census estimates put Amarillo's 2024 population at 203,729, up 1.7% from 2020. That is slow, steady growth. There is no wave of new arrivals hunting for a first dentist or a first mechanic; most customers already use somebody, and you win them at the moment they switch. That makes reviews, a complete Business Profile and a site that answers the obvious questions (price range, service area, how soon you can come out) worth more in Amarillo than in a boomtown suburb.
According to the Census Bureau's 2019-2023 American Community Survey, only 5.9% of Amarillo workers work from home, one of the lowest shares among the Texas places we cover. Most people commute to a shift, a job site or a counter. So the searching happens on a phone: in a pickup at lunch, in a parking lot, at night after work, often for something needed the same day. A page that loads fast on a phone and puts the call button and the form where a thumb finds them does more for an Amarillo business than a long essay.
Amarillo is also the Panhandle's main city for shopping, schooling and medical visits. Amarillo College is in town and West Texas A&M University is a short drive south in Canyon, so every fall brings new students who search for apartments, oil changes and haircuts with no loyalty to anyone yet.
Selling across the Panhandle from one city
Amarillo sits where I-40 meets I-27 and spans two counties, Potter and Randall. A business here rarely stops at the city limits. An HVAC company, a vet clinic or a law office may take customers from Canyon, Hereford, Dumas, Borger and Pampa, some of them an hour's drive away.
That shapes the plan. The map pack mostly shows businesses close to the person searching, so someone in Dumas looking for furnace repair sees Dumas results first whenever any exist. A Business Profile can't fix that by itself, because it has one location. What reaches the outlying towns is a page for each one you truly serve, saying what you do there, how far you travel and which jobs you've done nearby. If customers never visit your shop or your home office, you can hide the address on the profile and list up to 20 service areas instead. Our service area planner helps sort out which towns have earned a page and which can share one.
The other Texas places on this site are a long way off. SEO in Lubbock is the closest page, 113 miles south, where "seo lubbock" showed about 50 searches a month in October 2026 against about 30 for "seo amarillo". Wichita Falls, Midland and Abilene are all more than 200 miles away. If you sell across that whole stretch, start from the West Texas and Panhandle areas.
A practical first month
Everything happens remotely, over email, phone and video calls, with no Amarillo office to drop by. For most owners here the first month runs in this order: fix the website basics, complete the Business Profile with real photos and every service you offer, then pick keywords. The $65 Basic plan covers 5 keywords, which could be your main service in Amarillo plus your two or three strongest outlying towns. Send us your site for a free SEO audit and we will tell you which of those towns you can realistically reach, and what the site needs first.

Amarillo questions
Is SEO worth it in Amarillo when so few people search for it?
Yes, as long as you watch the right searches. The 30 or so monthly searches for 'amarillo seo' come from people shopping for an agency. Your customers type your service plus the city: roof repair amarillo, family dentist amarillo, used trucks amarillo. Those are the searches that bring leads. Run a few yourself and note who ranks. Where directories and out-of-town pages hold the top spots, a well-built local page has room to climb.
How close is Amarillo to Fort Worth, and does it matter for my rankings?
Amarillo is roughly 340 miles from Fort Worth by road, most of it on US 287, so about five hours of driving. For local search that distance makes Amarillo its own market. When someone here looks for a service, the map pack shows businesses near them, so you compete with other Panhandle companies, not with Metroplex ones. Statewide firms can still rank here with pages aimed at Amarillo, which is one more reason to have a better page of your own.
Can my Amarillo business show up for customers in Canyon, Hereford or Dumas?
Often, though rarely through the map pack alone, because it favors businesses close to the searcher. The usual route is a page on your site for each town you serve, written about the work you really do there, plus those towns listed as service areas on your Business Profile. Reviews from customers in those towns help as well. Canyon is close enough that the map pack may include you; Hereford and Dumas usually need pages of their own.
Should I redo my website before paying for SEO in Amarillo?
If the site is slow on a phone, crams every service onto one page or hasn't changed in years, fix it first or in the same month. SEO sends visitors to the site, and a weak site wastes them. In Amarillo the web design searches outnumber the SEO searches, which suggests many owners already sense this. Our websites start at $400, one time, quoted per project.
