McKinney SEO and web design, from $65 a month

McKinney added about 32,000 residents between 2020 and 2024, and more people here search for a web designer than for SEO. We help McKinney businesses with both, remotely, from $65 a month.

What Google shows for "mckinney seo"

We checked the live result on October 17, 2026. Google returned nine organic results: four agency sites, two directory or list pages, and three Facebook pages about finding a local provider. There was no map pack. An AI Overview sat at the top, and Google also showed a knowledge panel and review snippets.

The People Also Ask box is the interesting part. Of its six questions, four are about the city rather than about marketing: what McKinney's zip code is, what McKinney is known for, whether it is a wealthy area, and which famous people live there. Only two concern SEO (what a consultant does, and the "80/20 rule"). For a short query that includes the city name, Google is still unsure whether the searcher wants a vendor or a city guide. The same uncertainty can show up when people search for a plumber or a dentist with "McKinney" in the phrase, which is why a page that plainly says what you do, where, and for whom tends to win the tie.

The demand figures point the same way. In October 2026 the McKinney cluster came to about 440 searches a month. The three web design phrasings ("mckinney web design", "web design mckinney", "web design mckinney tx") showed about 70 each, the SEO phrasings about 50, and "seo company mckinney" about 20. Close variants often share one figure, so read that as "web design leads", not as hundreds of separate buyers. Many McKinney owners think of the problem as "my website", and they search that way.

What it would take to rank here

With no map pack on this query, the organic page does the work. Three Facebook results in the top ten tell you people here ask each other for recommendations, so reviews and a visible track record matter as much as on-page wording. And the AI Overview tends to quote pages that answer a question in the first sentence or two. For your own trade, the same three things apply: a page per service that names McKinney and the parts of the city you cover, a Business Profile with nothing left blank, and reviews written by customers in plain words about the job.

A city that keeps adding households

Census estimates put McKinney's population at 195,333 in 2020 and 227,526 in 2024, a rise of 16.5%. The Census Bureau's American Community Survey for 2019-2023 counts about 105,500 employed residents, a median household income of $120,273, and 21.8% of workers working from home.

Each of those figures changes how people search here. New arrivals have no dentist, vet, HVAC company or roofer yet, so every month brings households with no loyalty to anyone, searching with the city name or "near me". A median income above $120,000 supports bigger tickets: pools, remodels, outdoor kitchens, financial planning, private tutoring. Pages for those services need prices or price ranges, project photos and a clear way to ask for a quote, because these buyers compare two or three companies before they call.

The work-from-home share matters too. With roughly one worker in five at home, a lot of searching happens on weekday afternoons, on a laptop, by someone who reads a page all the way down. That favors longer service pages with real detail over thin pages built around a phone number.

McKinney, Collin County and the US 75 corridor

McKinney is the county seat of Collin County, with its old courthouse square downtown. US 75 runs through it north to south, US 380 crosses it east to west, and SH 121 runs along its southwest edge. Most service businesses here do not stop at the city limits. A typical McKinney company also takes jobs in Allen six miles south, in Prosper and Frisco to the west, and in Plano farther down US 75.

McKinney is also two kinds of market inside one city. The streets around the square and east of US 75 have older homes, small storefronts and a downtown of shops and restaurants. West of the highway, master-planned communities such as Stonebridge Ranch and Craig Ranch hold newer houses, HOAs and young families. A painter or a roofer gets different questions from each side (older materials and old wiring on one, HOA approval and builder-grade fixes on the other), and a page that answers both sets of questions reads as written by someone who knows the city. Customers notice that, and so does Google when it matches a query to the page that answers it.

That shapes the setup. If customers come to you (a clinic, a shop on the square, a restaurant), your Business Profile shows your address, and map rankings favor searchers near it. If you go to customers, Google lets you hide the street address and name the areas you serve instead, as many as 20. On the website, start with one strong McKinney page, then add a page for another town only where you have real jobs, photos or reviews from there. A Prosper page that repeats the McKinney page with the name swapped will not help either one. McKinney is one of many markets inside the Metroplex, and our Dallas-Fort Worth overview shows how they compare.

Where a McKinney business can start

Since the web design searches lead here, start by checking the site itself. Our free SEO audit looks at your McKinney pages, speed on a phone, Business Profile and reviews, and tells you in writing which to fix first. If the answer is a new or rebuilt site, our website design work starts at $400, quoted per project. SEO packages begin at $65 a month and can be stopped in any month. All of it happens remotely, over email, phone and video calls.

McKinney questions

What does an SEO consultant actually do for a McKinney business?

They find the searches that bring you paying work, then fix the pages and listings that should rank for them. For a McKinney company that usually means a service page for each job you want more of, a complete Business Profile with the right category and service areas, reviews that mention real jobs, and links from other sites. You should get a monthly list of what was done, so you can check it.

What is the 80/20 rule in SEO?

It is the idea that a small share of your pages and search terms brings most of your leads. In practice, a McKinney contractor might find that two service pages and the Business Profile produce nearly every call, while twenty blog posts produce almost none. Find those few pages first, make them as good as possible, and only then spread out to new topics or towns.

Should a McKinney business pay for web design or SEO first?

Fix the website first if it is slow, hard to use on a phone, or missing a page for each service, because SEO sends people to pages that then have to convert. If the site is sound but nobody finds it, start with SEO. In October 2026 the web design searches for McKinney outnumbered the SEO searches, so plenty of owners start on the website side.

Should I list McKinney zip codes on my website?

A block of zip codes at the bottom of a page does little. What helps is setting your Business Profile service areas properly (Google accepts cities or zip codes, up to 20) and writing about the parts of town you really serve: the jobs you did there, the drive times, the questions customers from that side of the city ask. That reads as useful, not as a keyword list.
