What "north texas seo" returns

Google does not treat "north texas seo" as a local search. When we checked on October 17, 2026, there was no map pack and no People Also Ask box, only an AI Overview and nine organic results, most of them about Texas as a whole: two pages from Semrush's agency directory, a Trustpilot review page, lists of top Texas SEO companies, a few agency pages pitched at the whole state, a Facebook page from McKinney and an agency page aimed at Arlington. By our count, four were agency sites, four were directories or lists and one was social.

The search numbers are small. In October 2026, "north texas web design" drew about 50 searches a month and "north texas seo" about 10. People here say "North Texas" all the time, but the numbers suggest that when they need a service, they search by city ("mckinney plumber", "sherman dentist") or by "near me".

The one bigger number, "north texas web design", fits a pattern in the member cities. In October 2026, "web design denton tx" drew about 110 searches a month against about 30 for "seo denton tx", and "mckinney web design" about 70 against about 50 for "mckinney seo". Frisco ran the other way, with "frisco seo company" at about 590 and "frisco web design" at about 210. Across most of the region, owners look for the website first; in Frisco, more of them already know they want SEO.

So a business that serves North Texas wins it city by city. A region page can rank for the broad phrase, but the calls come from city searches and from the map pack in each town. That is why we plan North Texas work around the counties and cities a business actually serves, not around the region's name.

Two economies in five counties

The Census Bureau's American Community Survey for 2019-2023 counts 1,251,306 employed residents across Collin, Denton, Grayson, Cooke and Wichita counties. The largest group works in professional, scientific and technical services (12.2%), followed by health care and social assistance (11.1%), retail trade (10.8%) and finance and insurance (9.2%). In the same survey, 21.3% of workers worked from home.

Those combined figures hide a split. Collin and Denton counties hold about 1.1 million of the 1.25 million employed residents, and their mix leans toward professional services and finance. Grayson, Cooke and Wichita counties are smaller and look different: in Grayson and Cooke, manufacturing and retail rank near the top, and in Wichita County health care leads. Median household income in the same survey ran from $62,168 in Wichita County to $117,588 in Collin County.

For search, that means two playbooks. In Collin and Denton counties, competition is dense and buyers research. A law firm, CPA, clinic or software company needs pages that show expertise (credentials, case examples, clear answers to the questions clients ask) and reviews that name the work. With a fifth of workers at home, much of that research likely happens on weekdays at a desk, on longer pages, with forms filled in as often as calls made.

Along the Red River, searches are fewer and more local. A complete Business Profile, accurate listings, steady reviews and one strong page per service carry more of the load there, and the work is less about out-writing a crowd than about being complete and correct where customers look.

The region, county by county

Collin County is the busiest part of the region. Frisco, McKinney and Prosper sit here along with Plano and Allen, strung along US 75 and the Dallas North Tollway, and Frisco and Prosper both reach west into Denton County. New subdivisions keep pushing the edge of the suburbs north toward the Grayson County line, so a service area drawn here a few years ago may already be out of date.

Denton County has Denton itself, the county seat and home to the University of North Texas and Texas Woman's University, plus Lewisville and Flower Mound on the south side around Lewisville Lake, where I-35E carries traffic toward Dallas. A college town and two lake suburbs make three different customer bases in one county.

Grayson and Cooke counties are the Red River counties north of the suburbs. Sherman, the Grayson County seat, and Denison sit on US 75 near Lake Texoma, and Gainesville, the Cooke County seat, sits on I-35 a few miles south of the Oklahoma line. These are county-seat towns with their own trade areas, and some businesses there draw customers from across the river.

Wichita County is the region's western end. Wichita Falls, home to Sheppard Air Force Base and Midwestern State University, sits northwest of Fort Worth on US 287 and works as a market of its own, with its own map packs. An air base means military families moving in on orders who need a dentist, a mechanic and a place to rent in a hurry, so a Wichita Falls business that ranks for those everyday searches keeps meeting customers who arrived last month.

A business based in one of these counties usually serves one cluster, not the whole region. A Frisco contractor may cover Prosper, Little Elm and McKinney; a Sherman HVAC company covers Grayson County; a Wichita Falls clinic draws from the towns around it. Google allows up to 20 service areas on a Business Profile, so a business that truly works 40 towns has to choose, and our service area planner helps with that. If you have staffed locations in more than one county, each can have its own profile; a mailbox or virtual office cannot.

How we would build a North Texas plan

Where a business serves many towns, city pages built at scale can carry the load, as long as each one has its own substance. A California window tinting company we worked with did exactly that on the Golden plan plus content writing, from February to July 2025: city pages built at scale took it to page one for dozens of city-specific keywords across California, its weekly leads went from 3 to 5 to more than 280, and its business operation grew 900% (the window tinting case study). North Texas has fewer cities, but the same rule holds: one real page for each real place.

Start with the county where most of your jobs come from. If your website is the weak link, our website design service builds sites from $400, one time, quoted per project. SEO plans run from $65 a month and include Business Profile, citation and review work in every tier. North Texas questions

Which cities count as North Texas?

There is no official line. People use North Texas for the counties north of Dallas and Fort Worth up to the Red River, and sometimes for the whole Metroplex. On this site it means Collin, Denton, Grayson, Cooke and Wichita counties, with Frisco, McKinney, Prosper, Denton, Lewisville, Flower Mound and Wichita Falls as the main cities. Dallas, Fort Worth and the rest of the Metroplex have their own pages.

Should a North Texas business put North Texas in its page titles?

Use the phrase in your copy, but put city names in the titles. In October 2026, north texas seo drew about 10 searches a month and north texas web design about 50, while frisco seo company alone drew about 590. Check your own trade the same way: if customers type frisco roofer far more often than north texas roofer, your titles should say Frisco.

Can one website rank in both Frisco and Wichita Falls?

In the organic results, yes, if it has a page for each place that shows real work there. The map pack is different: Google weighs distance from the searcher, and Wichita Falls is more than 100 miles from Frisco, so one address cannot carry both. A business with real, staffed locations in both cities can have a Business Profile for each; a mailbox or virtual office does not qualify.

Does working from home change how North Texas customers search?

It moves some searching to weekdays at a desk. The Census Bureau's American Community Survey for 2019-2023 found 21.3% of workers in these five counties worked from home, and nearly all of them live in Collin and Denton counties. Someone at a desk can read a longer page and fill in a form, so a North Texas site should offer detail and an easy form next to the phone number.
