San Antonio, Texas
SEO services in San Antonio, TX, from $65 a month
In October 2026, San Antonio owners searched for web design about three times as often as for SEO, and Google answered the SEO searches mostly with ranking lists. Here is what that means for a local business and what it takes to show up.

What Google shows for "san antonio seo"
On October 17, 2026, Google returned nine organic results for "san antonio seo". Six were framed as rankings, with "Top" or "Best" in the title: "Top SEO Agencies in San Antonio, Texas", "11 Best San Antonio SEO Companies in 2026", two separate "Top 13" and "Top 11" roundups from the same list site, and two agency pages with "Top" in their own titles. Only three read as plain service pages. A map pack sat above all of them. There was no AI Overview and no People Also Ask box, just related searches at the bottom of the page.
That mix tells you how Google reads the person typing the phrase: someone shopping, who wants a shortlist before they pick. Plenty of San Antonio trades get the same treatment. Type your main service followed by "san antonio" and count how many results are list articles or directory pages. If most of them are, part of the work is getting your business named on those pages, on Yelp and on the directories that rank, alongside ranking your own site.
The demand figures for October 2026 put web design well ahead. "web design san antonio" and "san antonio web design" each showed about 1,600 searches a month. "san antonio seo", "seo san antonio", "san antonio seo company" and five more phrasings each showed about 480. Google's keyword data often gives close variants the same number, so read that as one pool of roughly 480 searchers, not eight. Below that: "san antonio seo agency" about 170, "web design san antonio tx" about 110, "san antonio seo services" about 90 and "san antonio seo expert" about 40.
A three to one lead for web design says a lot about how owners here buy. Many start by asking for a new website and only later wonder why the site doesn't bring in work. If that's you, plan both together: a site built around the searches your customers already make costs about the same as one that isn't, and it saves a second rebuild.
The San Antonio economy, read through search
Census estimates put San Antonio's 2024 population at 1,526,656, up 6.4% from the 2020 base of 1,434,322. The Census Bureau's American Community Survey for 2019-2023 counts 701,332 employed residents. The largest industry is health care and social assistance at 13.9%, followed by retail trade at 11.3% and accommodation and food services at 9.9%. The same survey puts the median household income at $62,917, and 11.8% of workers worked from home.
Health care at the top means a lot of clinics, dental offices, therapy practices and home health agencies competing for the same three map results. Patients search on a phone, often for something like "pediatric dentist near me" or "physical therapy stone oak", and choose from the pack before they ever scroll to a website. For a practice, the Business Profile does most of the selling: the right primary category, accurate hours, insurance details on the site, and a steady flow of new reviews. A practice near the South Texas Medical Center on the northwest side competes with offices a few blocks away, so small differences in reviews and categories decide who appears.
Accommodation and food services at nearly one job in ten shapes a different kind of search. Restaurants, hotels, tour operators and event venues sell to many people who aren't in San Antonio yet. A family in Dallas planning a weekend searches "restaurants near the River Walk" or "things to do in San Antonio with kids" from home, so proximity to the searcher does little and pages that answer the question do the heavy lifting: parking, walking distance, group sizes, prices, a menu that loads on a phone.
Retail at 11.3% points the other way, toward the map pack and "open now" searches from people already in town. Stores that keep hours, holiday closures and stock details current on their profile give Google fewer reasons to send a shopper elsewhere.
How a San Antonio business covers the city
San Antonio sits in Bexar County, with I-35 and I-10 crossing near downtown and Loop 410 and Loop 1604 ringing it. That size matters for local search. A map pack result is anchored to where the business is, so a contractor based off Loop 1604 in Stone Oak will usually have a harder time showing up for someone on the South Side than a competitor based there. Service-area businesses can hide their address and list up to 20 service areas, which helps describe where you work, but it doesn't erase distance.
The practical answer is a page for each part of the metro you really serve, written about the work you do there. A roofer who handles a lot of hail claims on the north side and a lot of older homes near downtown has two different stories to tell, and each page should tell one of them.
The metro also stretches. Up I-10 sits Boerne, on the edge of the Hill Country. Up I-35 are New Braunfels and then SEO in San Marcos, and past that the corridor runs into Austin. Plenty of San Antonio companies take jobs along that stretch, and a page for each town they serve, with travel times and the jobs they've done there, beats one line in the footer that lists ten suburbs.
Joint Base San Antonio adds a steady flow of people arriving and leaving on military orders. They search for movers, rentals, schools, auto repair and childcare without knowing the neighborhoods, so a page that says plainly which parts of town you cover, and how fast you can get there, does more for them than a neighborhood name they don't recognize yet. If a good share of your customers prefer Spanish, the same goes for a Spanish version of your main pages.
What winning looks like here
For a business in San Antonio, the work usually comes in this order. First, the Business Profile: categories, services, photos of real jobs, and a routine for asking every customer for a review. Then the pages: one per main service and one per part of the metro you serve, each with details only you could write. Then the listings and lists: claim and complete your Yelp and directory listings, and contact the roundup sites that rank in your trade. Last, links from San Antonio sources that make sense for you, such as trade associations, local sponsorships and suppliers.
One example of focused local work: a Texas personal injury firm on our Golden plan reached the top 3 of the map pack in five months, January to May 2025, with qualified case inquiries up 500% and organic traffic from relevant local searches up 350%. The injury firm case study has the details. The firm's city isn't part of that case, and results in San Antonio depend on your trade and who you're up against.

San Antonio questions
Why do list articles outrank agencies for San Antonio SEO searches?
Google decided the person typing that phrase wants to compare options, so it put comparison pages first. On October 17, 2026, six of the nine results had 'Top' or 'Best' in the title. The same thing happens in many trades, so search your own service plus 'San Antonio' and count the lists. If they dominate, being named on them, and on Yelp, matters as much as your own page.
Can one Google Business Profile cover all of San Antonio?
One profile can list the whole city as a service area, but it still ranks from where the business is. A shop near Loop 1604 on the north side will usually struggle to appear in the map pack for someone searching on the South Side. If you have two staffed locations, each can have its own profile. Never create a profile at an address where you don't actually work.
Should a San Antonio business build pages in Spanish?
If a real share of your customers call or message you in Spanish, yes, start with Spanish versions of your two or three main service pages. Write them properly rather than running an automatic translation, use the phrases customers actually say, and link each page to its English twin. A Spanish page that answers prices, hours and service areas clearly is often more useful than a dozen thin ones.
How long does it take to show up in the San Antonio map pack?
Usually several months, and it depends on your trade, your location and how many competitors near you already have strong profiles and reviews. A business with a complete profile, steady new reviews and a site that matches its categories tends to move first. We report every month on what was built and where you stand, and we don't promise a position or a date.
