Dallas-Fort Worth SEO
SEO across Dallas-Fort Worth, starting at $65 a month
Few people search for 'DFW SEO', and Google answers the ones who do with Dallas. Customers across the Metroplex search by city, so this page shows how a business serving several of those cities can set up its pages and its profile.

"DFW SEO" is a small search inside a big market
In October 2026, "dfw seo", "seo dfw" and "seo dallas fort worth" each showed about 30 searches a month, and "dallas fort worth seo" and "dfw seo company" about 10. The website phrasings did a little better: "web design dfw", "dallas fort worth web design" and "web design dallas fort worth" about 50 each, and "dfw web design" about 20. Compare that with "dallas seo", which showed about 2,900 a month on its own in the same data.
People here name their city when they want something done. "The Metroplex" is how residents describe where they live, on the news and in conversation, but when a pipe bursts in Plano the search is "plumber plano" or "emergency plumber near me".
Google reads the region term the same way. On October 17, 2026, all nine organic results for "dfw seo" were about Dallas: Dallas agency pages, "best local SEO companies in Dallas" roundups from The Manifest and Semrush's agency directory, and a Facebook page for a Dallas business, the only result with "DFW" in its title. An AI Overview sat at the top, a map pack below it, and the People Also Ask box asked "What are the best SEO agencies in Dallas?", "Is SEO dead now with AI?", "What is the 80/20 rule in SEO?" and "What is the 3-7-27 rule in marketing?".
For a business that serves the area, the lesson is to stop leaning on "serving DFW" as a phrase. It reads fine on a truck, but as a page target it collects few searches, and Google quietly turns it into "Dallas" anyway. The searches that bring work carry a city name or "near me", so the site needs pages for the cities you actually serve.
The map pack on that page is worth a thought too. Map results are tied to locations, so a pack for a regional phrase can only show a handful of businesses from one part of a four-county area. A company in Keller or Weatherford can't count on appearing in it, however good its profile is, which is one more reason to aim at the city names around you.
The web design numbers point the same way. Website phrasings outran SEO phrasings for the region, about 50 searches a month each against 30, so owners here often start by commissioning a site. If you're building one for a business that covers several cities, plan the city pages into the build from day one. Adding them later usually means reworking menus, internal links and page templates, and paying for the same design work twice.
Four counties by the Census numbers
Our DFW figures combine Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties. The Census Bureau's American Community Survey for 2019-2023 counts 3,508,975 employed residents across the four. Health care and social assistance is the largest industry at 11.0%, with retail trade at 10.9%, professional, scientific and technical services at 10.0% and manufacturing at 8.8%. Across the four counties, 16.7% of workers worked from home.
No single industry dominates, and that shapes competition. A plumber in Garland and a tax firm in Plano both have strong rivals, but not the same kind: the plumber fights in the map pack against companies a few miles away, while the tax firm competes on expertise pages and reviews against firms across the whole region.
The work-from-home share hides a wide spread between cities. In the same survey, 33.7% of Frisco's workers worked from home, against 8.5% of Mesquite's. In the northern suburbs, a lot of searching happens on a laptop at midday by someone who reads the whole page and compares; in the east and south, more of it happens on a phone between jobs, and the business that answers fastest gets the call. A site serving both needs pages that work for both: detail for the reader, and a short path to contact for the person in a truck.
How businesses actually serve the Metroplex
Very few local businesses serve all of DFW. A Mesquite contractor might work the east side only; a Southlake pool builder might stay in northeast Tarrant and southern Denton counties; a Fort Worth law office might draw from Tarrant and the counties to its west. I-35 splits into I-35E through Dallas and I-35W through Fort Worth, I-30 links the two downtowns and I-635 loops north Dallas, and traffic on any of them sets real limits on how far a crew will drive for a service call.
Thinking about the region in sides helps. On the east side, Mesquite, Garland, Rowlett and Rockwall. North, Plano, Frisco, McKinney and Denton. In the middle, around DFW Airport, Irving, Grapevine, Flower Mound and Arlington. West and south, Fort Worth, Mansfield, Weatherford and Waxahachie. Most businesses belong to one or two of those clusters, and their plan should say which.
That plan has three parts. First the Business Profile: one per staffed location, set up as a service-area business if customers don't come to you, listing the cities you really cover (up to 20). Then the website: one page per city or cluster you serve, each with something specific (jobs done there, drive times, permit or HOA quirks you've dealt with), never the same page with the name swapped. Then the links and listings that tie you to those places. Our service area planner helps sort out which cities deserve their own page.
City pages built at scale can work when each one earns its place. A window tinting company in California, on our Golden plan with content writing from February to July 2025, reached page one across dozens of city-specific keywords that way, and its weekly leads went from 3 to 5 to over 280 (California window tinting case study). That was California, not Texas, but one trade spread over many cities is exactly the situation most DFW service companies are in.
If you're in Dallas or Fort Worth proper
The two big cities each behave like their own market. Our page on SEO in Dallas covers the city that most "DFW" searches turn into, and the Fort Worth page covers the western half. If your business sits in one of them and serves the suburbs too, start with the city and add suburbs in the order they bring in work.

Dallas-Fort Worth questions
Do people search for 'DFW' when they need a local business?
Rarely. In the October 2026 keyword data, 'dfw seo' drew about 30 searches a month while 'dallas seo' drew about 2,900. Customers type the city they're in, or 'near me', and Google rewrote even the regional term as Dallas. Keep 'DFW' in your About text if it describes you, but build titles and pages around the cities you actually serve.
What is the 80/20 rule in SEO?
It's the idea that a small share of your pages, keywords or services brings most of your results. For a Metroplex business it usually means two or three cities and two or three services produce most of the work. Pull a year of jobs by city, put your pages and review requests behind those first, and add the rest of the area once they're producing.
Is SEO still relevant in 2026 with AI answers on Google?
Yes. On October 17, 2026, the search for 'dfw seo' showed an AI Overview, but a map pack and nine organic results still sat below it, and AI answers draw on the same pages and listings that rank. For a local service, many calls start in the map pack, which runs on your Business Profile, reviews and location, all of which SEO work covers.
Should a DFW business have one website or a site for each city?
One site with a page for each city or side of town you serve is usually the better choice. Separate sites split your reviews, links and effort, and each new one starts from zero. A single domain lets a strong Dallas page lend weight to a newer Frisco page. The exception is a company running genuinely separate brands, where each brand gets its own site and profile.
